What To Expect
Expect a casual, welcoming atmosphere.
We're not particularly formal at Kings. Imagine a friendly group of neighbours, of different ages and backgrounds, that meet week in and week out to swap stories, drink coffee as the kids play basketball and affirm our shared faith - in all its mess and beauty - together.
We meet in a sunny gym and we dress casually. We're always excited to have visitors, so expect people to come and say hi.

Expect a contemporary service.
Our services are carefully thought out and planned, but they retain our informal community-oriented flavour. They last about an hour and a half and you'll see all ages participating in things like music and sound, sometimes scripture reading and behind the scenes activities like preparing snacks and helping out with our children's program. We believe that everyone has an important role to play in our community life and worship.
We have some very talented musicians in our congregation. They take turns leading us in music and singing that is contemporary in sound, but often includes hymns and songs that draw from our rich musical heritage. We put the words up on a screen so that everyone can participate and our leaders are great at helping us understand what we're doing.
The sermons at Kings are about 25-35 minutes long and are meant to intersect meaningfully with your life. We want you to feel like the words of Scripture have come alive to you in some way. We hope that each Sunday they piece together a larger story and that as we listen together we begin to see how our own stories fit in the bigger one.

Expect a place for your children and youth.
Children and youth are an important part of our church family. On Sunday mornings we have childcare during the service for infants and toddlers, a Sunday school program called Zoom for Jk - grade 5 and a Jr. high class for grade 6 - 8 students. All adults and youth who help to run these ministries are screened and trained with our Plan to Protect child safety program. From the nursery to the Jr. high class our focus is to care for and disciple our youngest church members in a safe and fun environment.

Expect time to connect after the service.
We like to linger after the service. You'll see kids playing basketball in one half of the gym while adults chat over coffee and tea. There is also a prayer corner set up with trained prayer volunteers if you'd like to receive prayer. If small talk is not your thing, there are always chairs to stack (we all try to pitch in) and things to put away as we transform our space back into a gym. Regardless of your personality there is a way and place for you to connect with others.
